The Best Way to Clean Blinds
Follow these directions to clean one of the most common types of blinds. Always refer to your individual product information for specific cleaning instructions.
What you May Need
- Microfiber Cloth
- Dusting Spray
- Mild Dish Soap
- Vacuum with Brush Attachment
- To remove dust, tilt your mini blinds all the way up and gently wipe the surface with a soft microfiber cloth. Tilt your blinds all the way down and repeat to clean both sides.
- Use a vacuum with a brush attachment for further cleaning. Tilt the slats all the way up first and support your mini blinds from the back with your hand to prevent crinkling. Repeat with the slats turned all the way down.
- To remove dirt and sticky residue, dampen your microfiber cloth with cold water and mild dish soap and gently wipe the blinds clean.
The Best Way to Clean Shades
Follow these instructions to clean one of the most common types of shades. Always refer to your individual product information for specific cleaning instructions.
What you May Need
- Vacuum with Hose Attachment
- Warm Water
- Microfiber Cloth
- Mild Dish Soap
- Compressed Air
- To clean surface-level dust and dirt, lift it away by gently sweeping across the fabric with the brush attachment of your vacuum. Do not vacuum without the brush attachment, as it may crumple and deform the fabric.
- Use a can of compressed air to blow away any debris from inside the fabric cells.
- To clean away stains, you can try blotting the stain with a lint-free cloth, warm water and mild dish soap. Do not scrub the shade, as it may cause the fabric to pill. Blot the fabric dry with another cloth to prevent water rings.
- Never submerge your cellular shades in water, or get it overly wet in the cleaning process as it may cause the shade folds to lose their shape.
